It’s the first Wednesday of November (almost the end of the year already!) and it’s time for Alex J. Cavanaugh’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group.
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
Today I’m feeling particularly thankful and blessed so instead of talking about what I’m insecure about I’d like to offer some encouragement to my fellow writers. I’ll start by sharing one of my favorite quotes. It’s on a framed poster that hangs on the wall at my job. I pass it everyday and feel like it’s talking directly to me:
No one can determine the heights to which you can soar. And even you won’t know until you spread your wings.
Want to write that novel but afraid? Do it anyway.
Sitting on a perfectly good novel because you’re afraid to publish it? Do it anyway.
Instead of imagining the worst that could happen, think of the opposite: what if, by confronting your fears, something truly amazing happens? Like all of your dreams coming true? Stay positive, stay focused, and don’t let fear keep you from pursuing your dreams.
